We are honored to be the stewards of this remarkable piece of land. Hoge Pasture will forever be conserved as farmland, a haven and retreat from the hustle and bustle for our animals, and a pastoral view for Blacksburg.
The Stable is committed to environmentally friendly pasture management practices including; sustainable pasture management, avoidance of environmentally harmful pesticides and herbicides, and low animal densities to promote lush pasture growth and avoid erosion. We are comited to a healthy environment for healthy horses.
About Heather:
The barn manager is Heather Cowan. She fell off a horse for the first time at 7 years old, and has been in love ever since. She has two horses, Ray, with whom she has trail ridden, competed locally in dressage, and who has taught her much more than she thought possible, and Diesel VT a youngster just getting started. She shares her life with her husband, Jim, two sons, Robert and Jay, her dog, Bella, four fish, and six chickens. If you ask at the right time, she may have extra eggs!
